Amouage Lyric for Men is a masculine tropical scent. It reminds me of 1930′s-1940′s Cuba. I haven’t been to 1930′s Cuba (obviously) but this fragrance reminds me of the travel pictures from that time and place. Lyric Man is a spicy, tropical rose. It would go well with cigars.
Lyric Man opens with bergamot, lime, lime blossom, orange blossom, and a gingery floral. It reminds me of old school tropical men’s colognes but thicker and with more body. The top to Lyric for Men is on the balcony wearing a white guayabera, smoking a cigar, dosed in an orange blossom eau de cologne. There’s a cool ocean breeze mixing the smoke and green, bitter florals, swirling it all together in an abstract cloud. Within 15-30 minutes, I do pick up on the rose. The entire existence of Lyric for Men is that it is supposed to be a masculine rose. Hmm…I guess it is but in my opinion this is a mid-spectrum rose. A balance of masculine and feminine, completely unisex. Anyways, the rose is there, a musky rose. It smells like it is mixed with camphoric wood shavings. It does remind me of wet, dewy roses growing up the side of a cedar trellis…in a Caribbean environment. I still get this breezy saltiness and citrus that keeps Lyric Man from being sweaty and dirty. Like all of Amouage, Lyric is high-quality. It wears and wears. Eventually after half a day of wear, get soft creamy vanilla, saffron covered woods. It’s really nice.
